Today I started over to try to reduce my daily shift. As someone of you already know, I started the so-called Morning Shift at the beginning of 2011: due to my stomach problems and disturbs, I can't sleep regularly at night. The conseguence has been that, when it occurs, I can go to bed only late at night - say at 3, 4 and even at 5am - and can wake up only after 11am. And this if the stomach lets me sleep at all.
This aspect has always been a problem to me, in several life contexts: to resolve job events in the early morning, to meet persons, to work on duties and other appointments and tasks that happen in the early morning.
Now, after two years of shifting, I'm trying to reduce the Shift that affect my sleeping life. I work on two strategies:
- Try to anticipate the time I eat on dinner to 7, max 8pm, in order to reduce digestion time - that to me takes an average time of 6-8 hours - to 2am / max 4am
- Point out the alarm on an interval from 9am to 10.30am, in order to provoke an early awake anyway, even if I didn't sleep more than 5 hours in the night.
